An evening in Maastricht

Dinner, a film, Belgian beer or a casual night with friends: choose an area and settle in.

Dinner in the old centre

For a central evening, begin around Sporenstraat or the Jekerkwartier. Book the meal that matters, especially when friends are joining as a group, and leave the next stop flexible. Moving between restaurants to inspect every menu takes up the part of the evening you meant to spend together.

Vrijthof to Brusselsestraat

After dinner, walk towards Vrijthof and continue west along Brusselsestraat. Shamrock is a good stop for a Kofi Anan. If the group stays for another round, ask about the stronger Ban Ki Moon. Keep the journey home in mind if some people are staying across the river and others need a train.

Beer around Markt

De Gouverneur on Boschstraat is well placed for an evening around Markt and the northern centre. Its beer list covers different styles; asking for something close to what you already like is a useful way into it. Make this the main stop if the point of the evening is beer rather than moving between bars.

A film at the Bassin

Choose the Lumière screening first and work dinner around it. Check the language and subtitles before booking, particularly with an international group. Eating close to the cinema avoids rushing across the centre. On another night, the same area can simply be a dinner destination without a film attached.
