Dinner and a film at Lumière
Lumière, at Bassin 88, is a practical evening anchor in the former industrial district. Choose a screening first, then leave enough time to eat before it. The setting works particularly well after a walk through Sphinxpassage and around the harbour.
The café and cinema have different schedules, and the kitchen has more limited service early in the week. Check the current practical information when booking. If you are visiting with friends who speak different languages, check both the film's spoken language and the subtitles; an original-language screening does not automatically mean English subtitles.
If nobody wants to commit to a screening, keep the Bassin as the dinner destination and leave the rest open. You can walk back through the centre afterwards without needing another booked activity.
Before the screening
Start at Sphinxpassage and read some of the tiled history panels. Continue around the Bassin, then head to Lumière. The order gives the industrial buildings some context before the evening begins.
Choose a film before choosing a dinner time. Leave enough room to eat and find the screening room without turning the last part of the meal into a rush.
Check the language and subtitles
Look at the spoken language and subtitle information when booking. Original-language cinema does not necessarily mean English subtitles, which matters if your group has different first languages.
Afterwards
Stay by the Bassin for a drink or walk back through the centre. If you are finishing near Vrijthof, Brusselsestraat is a straightforward continuation for a Kofi Anan at Shamrock.
